The Borland House is conveniently located in the heart of the historic village of Montgomery, New York. From our porch you can stroll to your choice of critically acclaimed restaurants or check out the antique shops, "Pleasure Ground" trails, and gift boutiques.

Let us help you plan your outings and offer suggestions. We are happy to provide a box lunch for you to enjoy as you explore the Hudson Valley.Wherever you wander, you will have chosen the perfect place to return to each day.

Shopping:

Woodbury Common, a premier shopping outlet, is only a 25 minute drive.

Antique shops abound in and around Montgomery. Just over the Newburgh-Beacon bridge are the many shops of Cold Spring and Beacon.

"Orange County Choppers" is a popular destination for the motorcycle enthusist. You have watched them on TV, now enjoy the experience of seeing their factory, 1 mile from the village. Check out some of their most outrageous designs when you visit their retail store, 7 miles down the road on Route 17K.

Hiking:

Check out Winding Hills County Park, 2 miles away, for hiking and boating.

Orange County Park and Arboretum is only a five minute drive from the Borland House.

A 20 minute ride will take you to the challenging and beautiful Shawangunks where hikers and climbers gather from all over the world. Spend the day hiking at Mohonk Preserve or Lake Minnewaska.

Outdoor Antique Shows:

The Borland House is less than 40 minutes to many seasonal antique shows and flea markets. Spend the day searching for the perfect find and return for tea on the porch.

Historic Homes:

The many historic homes along the Hudson (Vanderbilt Mansion, Hyde Park, Valkill, etc.) are just a short drive from the Borland House.

Wine Tours:

We are located right in the middle of the Shawangunk Wine Trail, composed of more than 9 wineries. Check their website for special events throughout the year.

West Point:

A "must " and only a 40 minute drive. Let us arrange a tour for you.

Newburgh waterfront:

The beautifully restored Newburgh waterfont on the Hudson features shopping and riverside dining only 10 minutes from the Borland House.
